Welcome to Grazing Chestnuts!
I have decided to start this blog after a thought crossed my mind while mixing up the horses feed yesterday and I found that I’d run out of magnesium to put in their feed. Now you will come to see that I have a huge number of random and sometimes rambling thoughts that lead me to blurting them out here, but this one was something that I have thought often and each time I do it irks me and I wish that more people were aware of the misconception, so I thought to myself, why not have a blog that dispels common myths about horses? And here we are!
So in this post (being that it is actually my welcome post) I am not going to go any further into my thought that led me here – though I will in likely the very next post if you are interested in reading it – instead I will leave that for later and just say, there are so many things that I once thought were true about horses and their care/handling, that I later in life found to be preposterous and to be completely honest, lacking in all common sense and that had me feeling really quite daft, but answering many questions that I had over the years as to why things often went wrong or never really got better for me in my working with the creatures that I love.
This is going to be a space where I put out there things that I have learned, things that annoy me about the horse world and likely many other tips tricks and random thoughts that I have surrounding horses. I will make it clear from the outset, that I call a spade a spade, and often my views can be confronting, though they are always honest and to the point. I take my interaction with my horses (and others horses) very seriously and believe that we as humans are the stewards of the horse due to the fact that we chose to domesticate them, and because of that we must do all we can to make their lives better under our care.
I hope that you enjoy my thoughts and information that I share, anything that I post that is a share of others info I make no claim to, and the thoughts that are my own are being expressed from my point of view and are there as anecdotal musings for people to take how they like. I am not a vet, I am not claiming to be anything other than a horse owner and any thing you take as advice and follow is at your own risk and responsibility.
So that is all from me for now, I hope you enjoy what follows
